Annual African-American Read-In

The directors of English language arts and reading, invite you, your students, and staffs to join us for CFB’s second annual African American Read-In, which will be held in the DeWitt Perry Middle School Auditorium on Monday, February 6, at 6:00 p.m. Please bring one of your favorite selections written by an African American author to read or perform at this event.  We are joining the National Council of Teachers of English, its Black Caucus, and others by hosting this literacy event during Black History Month.  Please let us add your name to the list of readers for this National African American Read-In, the nation’s first and oldest event dedicated to diversity in literature.  This initiative has reached more than 5.5 million participants around the world, and we want you to be among them.

Amber McAvoy, one of the secondary ELA specialists, created a video to promote this event.  The link follows:  https://www.wevideo.com/view/823344495.

We hope to see you at this event.  If you need additional information about this event and/or suggestions about reading selections, please visit the following site:  www.ncte.org.
