For the second consecutive year a Newman Smith High School student has won the National Congressional Art Competition sponsored by Congressman Kenny Marchant (24th Congressional District, Texas).
Sophia Glasser-Kerr, grade 11, won the competition recently with her submission titled “Winter Landscape,” a masterful acrylic and palette knife artwork.
Her winning entry will be displayed for a year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capital Building, Washington, D.C.
Sophia Glasser-Kerr, along with a guest will fly to Washington D.C., for the unveiling of the artwork and reception sponsored by Congressman Marchant’s office. Sophia Glasser-Kerr and two other Smith art students, Nicole Schifferdecker and Diane Huynh were finalists in the competition.
Congratulations to Sophia Glasser-Keer and art teacher Keith Mueller for a job well done.
