“Mrs. Minette Gossett interviewed for a teaching position at Davis 7 years ago and I knew that she would be a hard working teacher with a mindset of continuous improvement. I knew that she would work beyond exceeds expectations. What I did not know is that Minette would keep me laughing and entertained with her tremendous sense of humor. She is always a highlight of my day whether observing an interaction with a student or as I watch her transforming a group of students to deeper thinking, richer ideas and a stronger work ethic. When speaking with her or when watching her lead students, there is a pervasive presence of peace with a sense of joy and insistence that each person can be better today than yesterday.
Minette’s 4th grade team describes her as extremely upbeat and positive. As soon as you turn around, she is dancing and has a huge smile on her face. She has a positive attitude and working with her is a pleasure. She holds her students to high expectations and never settles for less than any student is capable of producing.
Davis students respect Mrs. Gossett and they care about her opinion. Several students told me that they better make good choices and think about other people when making decisions. A student stated, Mrs. Gossett taught my sister to love writing.
Here are a few student quotes from three male students. “Mrs. Gossett is sweet because she helps you understand details and won’t quit until you do. She is like a student counselor and helps you solve problems. She is strict, and I would want my child to have her because she teaches discipline and she is a great dancer.”
I have great respect and love for you Minette. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor and induction into the Very Important Profession of Teaching.”
