Team Reports:
Volleyball:
The Lady Trojans to on Thomas Jefferson Friday night and swept them out the door.
The Freshmen took the court and play liked they practice. They played relentless defense, they served aggressively and offensively we scored points. Way to go ladies. The scores were 25-20, 25-18
The Junior Varsity also stepped on the court determined to execute. Thomas Jefferson challenged our transition and ball control. The ladies did a great job adjusting. They defeated Thomas Jefferson in 3 sets. The scores were 25-10, 23-25, 25-16.
The Varsity stepped on the court with determination to succeed. Thomas Jefferson pushed us on ball control and our offense with their defense. The Lady Trojans adjusted and took the win. We had 28 Kills, 10 Service Aces. At the net we had 5 Block points with 11 soft blocks. We had 90 digs and out Serve Receive was 89 %. It was a good win. The scores were 25-11, 25-20, 25-17.
This last weekend, Newman Smith hosted the CFB Junior Varsity Tournament. Our Junior Varsity team won the Silver Bracket. Way to go Ladies.
Tuesday night the Lady Trojans took our Trojan Pride down to Woodrow Wilson. It was long fought battle with play ending around 9:30 pm.
The Junior Varsity team stepped on the court determined to control the match. A lot of relentless defense and continuous energy pulled the young ladies together. They come from being down to winning the 2nd and 3rd set. Great Win ladies.
The Varsity team took to the court Rocking the House with that Trojan Spirit. From the beginning it was an awesome match. We controlled the net with 15 block for point and 20 soft blocks. That is a WOW factor. We had over 100 digs, 38 kills. We received serve 95 times with an efficiency of 89%. WOW factor. I am so proud of these young ladies they fought till the end. The outcome was not what we wanted, rest assure the MIGHTY WOMEN OF TROY will succeed. The scores were 25-22, 13-25, 25-27, and 16-25
Football:
The Smith Freshman Team handed North Garland a sound defeat. They dominated from start to finish. The score was 22 – 8! Great job Gentlemen.
Smith JV football vs North Garland: 0-34
The boys played hard on both sides of the ball, however, North Garland made the big plays.
It seemed as if every time the Trojan offense got a big play, there ended being a flag on the field. We played behind the sticks most of the game, yet the boys never gave up. There were some good runs and catch’s, we just couldn’t string them together to get in for a score.
The defense played tough and shut NG down at times, however it was the big play from their offense that hurt us. Long passes and even longer runs were the difference.
We have work to do this bye week to prepare for district play.
The Varsity took on North Garland on Thursday night. We fought hard for 4 quarters but could not overcome our mistakes. We will head into this BYE week looking to get better at what we do.
Cross Country:

Tennis:
The Newman Smith tennis team defeated Thomas Jefferson 18-1 on Tuesday in a district team tennis match. We dominated play and played only a couple of close matches during the contest. We were also able to get a lot of different players experience in playing varsity team tennis matches.
